Description
This formal portrait of Amos Guss in spats, with his signature cigar, was taken around 1925. Guss was one of Lakeland's longest-surviving World War I veterans. In January 1919, at the age of 22, he was honorable discharged from the U.S. Army. For the next 70 years, he spoke proudly of his military service and was an active member of the American Legion.
